The RISE Student Journey Begins…

Introducing our Vocational Scholars!

BY ANN STRANDOO

Our mission to educate refugees is underway thanks our generous supporters. One week ago seven young refugees left their refugee camp and traveled 500 miles by bus to their furnished apartment where they will start a new life. For the first time ever they are living in an apartment with running water, and electricity. They now have grocery money and medical insurance. The very best part is that for the first time in their lives they are realizing the dream of an education that will lead to a job. At Eastlands Technical College these seven students are enrolled in a 24 month program that combines technical coursework, business management, and industry apprenticeships at the end of each term. We will be sharing their stories and cheering them on from afar. RISE is working hard to make these courses available to more refugees. YOU made this possible-and we think making a refugee’s dreams come true is a pretty great way to start 2021! With gratitude, Ann
